Welcome offers are the highest-expected-value starting point in matched betting. Across the full set of UK sportsbook welcome offers — Bet365, William Hill, Sky Bet, Paddy Power, Coral, Ladbrokes, Betfred, BoyleSports, BetVictor and roughly a dozen others — typical cumulative extraction sits in the £500–£1,000 range over the first few weeks of working through them. The order matters: front-load the high-value offers while your accounts are fresh, leave the smaller ones for later, and finish before operators start trimming stakes. Some welcome offers issue clean SNR free bets; a smaller number issue the cleaner SR variant; a handful issue bonus bets with light wagering attached. Worked example

Place £10 as a qualifying bet on a Premier League match at 2.5 odds at Sky Bet and lay £6.55 at 2.55 on Smarkets — typical qualifying loss across both outcomes is around £0.20. Sky Bet then credit three £10 SNR free bets to your account, usually within minutes of the qualifying bet settling.
Stake each £10 free bet at higher odds (5.0–8.0) for the cleanest SNR extraction. A £10 SNR at 6.0 paired with a £6.47 lay at 6.10 extracts roughly £7.30 of cash whichever side wins; three of them sum to about £22. Net result of the welcome offer: roughly £21.80 banked from a £10 starting stake, achieved in two evenings of placing bets. Repeat across ~15 UK welcome offers and the cumulative total reaches the £500–£1,000 range that members typically report from the first few weeks.
Common mistake
Burning a high-value welcome offer at low odds. The temptation is to stake the free bet on a 2.0 favourite for a "safe-feeling" outcome, but the SNR maths punishes you — extraction at 2.0 odds is roughly 50% of face value, against around 73% at 6.0. Always confirm whether the offer is SNR or SR in the bookmaker's T&Cs (the SNR/SR distinction is named in the small print) and stake at the odds band that matches the structure. The other beginner trap is placing the qualifying bet before completing the bookmaker's identity check — the offer converts fine but the cash won't withdraw until KYC is verified, so do the verification before staking, not after.
